The Dhuile, a teaching poem

Erin

(Note from Daven:  I was inspired to write this just because, but I have had good critical reviews of it, up to Searles O’Dubhain telling me that is was excellent and of good use for any number of things.  So, here you go.)

The Dhuile, a teaching poem

By Daven

Face the Sun in the South
The first element.
The body, element, and direction
The Dhuile guide us
in all that we do.

Look all of you at the heavens
You are given a Face to be seen
To raise it to the Sun and to Face the South
not to hide as so many do
but to be visible for all
to talk to.

Mind the Moon that shines Inwards
For the Light of the mother
can be in any direction
but the most important one
is the light shining inside your soul.

For the Gods think, and so should we
the Moon is the sister of the Sun
and inwards is the direction we all travel
so pay attention to what is inside
since it is so important to you.
It will be with you always.

The Blood of the Sea toward the West
That precious element
that nourishes our body
came first
from the Sea and our Mother

And the Blood has power
in it just as the Sea sits
in the low areas of the world
and has power too.
The resting place of the Sun.
The West, the place where we all go.

Our Breath is like Wind blowing from the East
and that Breath is important
to give our blood something
to carry to the rest of our body.
Without air, we live not.

Our breath is likened to the breath
of the Gods, with it there is life
With the Wind, life lives and grows
and everything that is can come out of
the East and the birthplace of the Sun.
From where we come.

Our Head scrapes the Sky which sits Above.
With our heads, we think
It is only proper that
they be in the sky,
the Home of the Gods

For thought is a great gift
and with it, we are like the Gods
able to decide out destiny
So do not look down
Look up, to all that is above you
and be glad that you are here.

The Lady’s Hair is the Green World when we walk Outwards
So always remember, as we step
on the Grasses, that we tread on the Lady
Who has consented to our being here
and who accepts us for who we are.

For the Lady does not have to
put up with us on her body,
Injuring her, killing her
But she lets us anyway, because she loves us
like a parent that She is
She wants us to find our way.

And our Flesh, made from the Land below our feet.
From the Earth we came
In the beginning, and so
we shall return to it,
but mourn not, it is the way.

For the Earth of our body
will go to feed those in need
the Plants and animals
and eventually other people
and perhaps, if we are honorable
ourselves one day.

While our Bones merge with Stone and we are in the North
In the realm of the Dead
With everyone who has come before
preparing the Way for us
all of those we loved, with us.

For our Bones are always there
perhaps to be found in another time
to make others question who we were
But we will not know,
for we will be in the Hall
In the realms of the North.

And our Spirit soars with the Clouds and we pass Through
Everything.
For the one indestructible
is what we ARE
not what we are made of.

Nothing anywhere can erase US
we have grown and become
what we have wanted to be
since we first began to think
Our Parents, The Gods
A pattern repeated ever and over.

Stars light your path.
